
Bayelsa NAPTIP Commander, Ikhidero Visits Gloria Diri in Yenagoa
The Bayelsa State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) paid a courtesy visit to Her Excellency, Dr. Gloria Diri, the wife of the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State.
The visit was led by the State Commander, Abieyuwa Ikhidero, who, along with her team of officers, briefed Her Excellency on the achievements of the Command, particularly in the area of the safe return and reintegration of trafficked victims from Bayelsa State.
Commander Ikhidero highlighted the crucial role of international partners such as the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in making these successes possible. She emphasized the importance of partnerships, noting that collaboration is a core mandate of the Agency.
In her concluding remarks, the Commander appealed for further support, particularly in the provision of shelters for trafficked and vulnerable victims of human trafficking.
In response, Her Excellency Dr. Gloria Diri expressed her gratitude to the Command for their visit and commended their efforts. She pledged to support NAPTIP’s work through the State Gender Response Initiative Team (GRIT) and assured that the Bayelsa State Command would be included in future activities and interventions across the state.
The visit concluded with the symbolic issuance of red cards to traffickers and the presentation of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, including branded IOM T-shirts.
