
Bayelsa Police Command Confirms Arrest of Suspects of Attempted Murder of Nancy Wilfred in Yenagoa

Following the criminal incidence of a case of attempted murder and dehumanizing of one Nancy Wilfred, a native of Ugelli in Delta state that went viral on social media a couple of days ago, the Bayelsa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of the suspected perpetrators of those behind the heinous crime.
The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, CP Francis Idu who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen at the Police Headquarters in Yenagoa further noted that the command swung into action based on intelligence report on the incidence and succeeded in arresting three of the suspects involved in the crime, adding that one of the suspects is still at large but is on the trail and watch list of the police.
CP Francis Idu also opined that efforts are still ongoing to ensure that everyone in connection with the crime are equally arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.
He reiterated that a case of harassment, dehumanization, abduction and attempted murder has already been established on the matter by the command even as further investigations are still going on with a view to giving the police various partners, including Community Based Organisations ( CBOs), gender rights activists and the judiciary the leeway to do thier legitimate duties on the incidence effectively.
The State Police Commissioner thanked Gov. Douye Diri on the assistance given to the Police Command by the state government, commending the stance of Gov Diri on zero tolerance to all forms of crime and criminality across the state.
He also expressed appreciation to members of the public who gave the police the information that eventually led to the arrest of the suspects, promising to continuously protect victims of criminal activities and informants in line with the mandate constitutionally given to the police and the orders from the Inspector General of Police to always be accountable to members of the public.
One of the suspects, Kadi Blessing said a quarrel they had been brewing among the four of them concerning boyfriend issues eventually led to a fight and the victim was dehumanized under the influence of alcohol.
