Bayelsa Transparency Briefing: Projects Well Funded — Information Commissioner
Yenagoa — The Bayelsa State Government has dismissed claims of funding challenges affecting ongoing projects across the state, assuring residents that key developmental initiatives are adequately financed and progressing steadily.
The Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiowou Koku-Obiyai, gave the assurance during the state’s transparency briefing in Yenagoa. She stated that projects spanning road construction, bridges, a stadium, the secretariat complex and gas turbine installations have recorded significant milestones due to sustained and adequate funding.
According to her, the Prosperity Administration of Governor Douye Diri has continued to prioritize infrastructure development while simultaneously pursuing economic diversification.
“The Assured Prosperity administration has been working tirelessly to diversify the state’s economy. Serious investments have been made in the blue economy, agriculture, marine transport, tourism, as well as the acquisition of two aircraft to strengthen air connectivity,” Koku-Obiyai said.
She stressed that the regular transparency briefings underscore the government’s commitment to openness, accountability and keeping citizens informed about the state’s financial health and development trajectory.
Also speaking at the briefing, the Technical Adviser on Treasury, Accounts and Revenue, Mr. Timipre Seipulou, presented a detailed breakdown of the state’s income and expenditure for the months of October, November and December 2025. He assured that the state remains financially stable, attributing this to prudent fiscal management under Governor Douye Diri.
