
BMA 2025: Organisers Announces New Partnership Deal With GECF
The Girls Empowered for Change Foundation (GECF) has partnered with the Bayelsa Media Awards (BMA) for the 12th edition, marking a significant milestone in promoting positive change and empowering young women in Bayelsa State. GECF, a grassroots nonprofit organization, focuses on improving the lives of adolescent girls and young women through prevention of drug use, rehabilitation of addicted youth, and recognizing the crucial role mothers play in early childhood development.
According to the Lead of GECF Mrs. Gloria Wodu who commended BMA for the feat of celebrating 12 years of making an impact in the media space, stated that GECF’s initiatives aim to provide young girls with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make positive choices and take control of their future.
She stated that the foundation’s programs also focus on preventing drug use and rehabilitating addicted youth, with a special emphasis on vulnerable girls and by recognizing the critical role mothers play, GECF promotes awareness and support for mothers and caregivers in Bayelsa State and beyond.
Mrs. Wodu further stated that BMA’s media platform will amplify GECF’s initiatives, reaching a broader audience and promoting awareness about girls’ empowerment and prevention of drug use.
Responding, the Project Manager Bayelsa Media Awards, Mr.Victor Binawari appreciated GECF for the partnership which he said it will provide training and mentorship programs for young women, while BMA will offer media skills development opportunities.
Both organizations promised to collaborate on advocacy initiatives to promote policies and programs supporting girls’ empowerment and women’s rights. This partnership is a significant step towards creating positive change in Bayelsa State, empowering young women, and promoting development in the Niger Delta region.
