Coal City Film Festival 2026 Opens Call for Entries with Theme “Local Stories. Global Screens”
The Coal City Film Festival (CCFF) has officially announced the call for entries for its 6th edition, inviting filmmakers from around the world to submit their works that celebrate authentic storytelling and creative excellence.
Scheduled to take place from March 26 to 28, 2026, in Enugu, Nigeria, the festival continues its mission of spotlighting local narratives with global resonance — a vision captured in this year’s theme, “Local Stories. Global Screens.”
According to the organizers, the 2026 edition seeks powerful, boundary-breaking films that reflect diverse voices, cultures, and experiences. The festival has become one of Nigeria’s fastest-growing cinematic events, providing a global platform for emerging and established filmmakers to connect, collaborate, and showcase their art.
“We believe that great stories can come from anywhere — and they deserve to be seen everywhere,” said a statement from the CCFF team. “This year, we’re calling on filmmakers across continents to share their vision, their voice, and their truth through film.”
Submission Deadlines:
- 🕊️ Early Bird: July 1 – October 31, 2025
- 🔥 Late Bird: November 1 – December 31, 2025
Submissions are to be made exclusively via FilmFreeway.
Now in its sixth year, the Coal City Film Festival has built a reputation as a creative hub where African stories meet global audiences, fostering conversations on identity, innovation, and the future of storytelling.
As the countdown to March 2026 begins, the CCFF team encourages filmmakers to seize this opportunity to showcase their stories from the heart of Enugu — Nigeria’s cinematic gem — to the world.
