Create a Speaking Space With Children, DO Foundation Founder Advises Parents
Dise Goddy Harry, founder of Dise Ogbise Foundation, DO Foundation, advises parents to create a speaking space with children on their activities during school hours in order to reduce cases of violence and criminality in society.
The founder of DO Foundation, Dr Dise Goddy Harry, gave the advice when responding to questions with Reflector TV Street Correspondent Oga Victor in Yenagoa.
She said as a gender advocate, a lot is happening in schools calling on parents to be friendly and vigilante while dealing with their children as they begin a term adding that constant interaction with them after school hours will reveal a lot on their relationship with other students and teachers.
Dise Goddy Harry, a former NBA Sagbama chairman, former Fida Bayelsa chairperson and noted that many parents don’t create the opportunity for their children to speak with them due to the long hours spent at the workplace living the children vulnerable.
In her words, ‘I will advise that parents should encourage their children to speak with them on issues bothering them. Not just academic works, parents should ask questions on the children’s activities in school and their interact with other children’.
According to her, a speaking space will serve as an avenue to allow children to speak freely and reduce the incidences of violence and other social vices in society.
