
Diri Calls for Regional Unity, Commends NDDC Management Team for Bayelsa Office
Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri has called on the Federal Government to partner the Prosperity administration in the completion of ongoing Central and Western Senatorial road projects in the State.
Governor Diri who stated this at the inauguration of the Niger Delta Developmemt Commission, NDDC, ultra modern Bayelsa office in Yenagoa thanked President Bola Tinubu for awarding phase 2 of the Nembe/Brass Road, stressing that beyond oil and gas, Bayelsa has enormous potential and riches in its seas waiting to be explored and exploited when road gets there.
Gov. Diri also used the opportunity to charge politicians to be united adding that politics should not divide the people but everyone in positions of authorities should attract development to Bayelsa State.
His Words: “Generally, all of us in the Niger Delta have very similar and the same issues. Is it the issues of flooding, erosion, are virtually the same. We must work hand in glove to to ensure that our region is free of most of these challanges, and that can only happen when we are united”, he said.
The Governor commended the board and management of the NDDC for providing a befitting office space, named, Melford Okilo House, for the staff to enhance productivity.
“This is a honour to our icon, Late Melford Okilo. Thank you Mr. MD”, Gov. Diri stated.
The event was also graced by the wife of the Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, Deputy Governor, Sen. Lawrence Ewrudjakpo, members of the National Assembly, Speaker, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere and other top government officials.
