Drug Abuse: Wodu Demonstrates Use of Drugh Testers on Children
Gloria Wodu, founder of the Girls Empowered for Change Foundation (GECF), demonstrated how mothers can use drug testers to determine if their children have been exposed to any kind of drug.
Mrs. Wodu offered these encouraging words while speaking at a one-day “Shine Bright, Live Right” campaign against drug abuse, held in partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Yenagoa, the capital of Bayelsa State.
According to Mrs. Wodu, mothers are encouraged to use the drug testers every three months once their children reach 13 years old, especially when living in an unsafe environment.
In her words, “Every three months, have your child urinate in a cup and insert the tester to find out if he or she has been exposed to drugs. Sometimes, they may pretend they have not taken any drugs.
“The tester will reveal the type of drugs they are using. This is crucial because mothers need to be proactive in monitoring their children’s activities and ensuring their safety.”
Mrs. Wodu advised mothers to protect their children, especially those who have stopped the habit of taking drugs.
She added that they should be encouraged to browse the internet to find out the dangers of drugs.
The campaign was attended by women leaders of the Akenfa Community and officials of the NDLEA.
