ENVAWC Demand Community Profit Sharing Provision for Host Communities
Tina Tari Youdubagha, Team Lead of End Violence Against Women and Children, ENVAWC joins other community based organization, CBO to demand for the provision of community profit sharing opportunities for host communities
The demand was made when Social Action, The Bayelsa Non Governmental Organizations Forum, BANGOF and other CBOs staged a peaceful protest to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Commission, NUPRC in Yenagoa.
Speaking to reporters at the peaceful protest, Tina Tari Youdubagha said her organization is worried over the increasing number of women and children suffering from the effect of oil exploration and exploitation in various Niger Delta communities.
Youdubagha highlighted several challenges faced by women and children in the region which includes cancer, and respiratory issues, and skin diseases, leading to high mortality rate.
She called on President Tinubu to haul gas flaring and any divestment agreement from oil companies.
