ENWAF takes Voter Education Sensitization to KOLGA Communities
Ahead of the forth coming election in Bayelsa State, the Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation, ENWAF has embarked on voter education sensitization of women in some communities within Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area.
ENWAF visited Sampou, Kalama, Odi and Kaiama, the headquarters of Kolokuma/Opokuma local government area of Bayelsa State.
Chief Executive Officer, CEO of ENWAF, Lady Eunice Nnachi noted that the essence of the exercise was to educate the people particularly women on the voting process inorder to increase voter turnout and reduce invalid votes during the polls.
Lady Nnachi who explained the process of voting using the ballot papers and thumbprinting called on the people to vote wisely and shun all forms of malpractices or violence that could disrupt the election.
“Election day is not a time for fighting, come out and vote peacefully, avoid all forms of violence. Never say my vote would not count, every vote would count, do not sell your vote”
She urged women to encourage their children and youths who are of voting age in the various communities visited to come out in their large numbers to vote on election day.
Also speaking, Deputy Paramount Ruler in Odi kingdom, Chief Lulumba Izonfuo pointed out that the voter education sensitization was very timely as many persons are ignorant of the procedure adding that the exercise would ensure that the people vote properly during the polls.
” Our governorship election is coming up soon, it is good for us to educate the people because we have many illiterates and even the literate who do not know the voting procedure. It is good for them to know the accreditation process before voting and how to thumbprint properly”
Chief Izonfuo expressed appreciation to ENWAF for visiting the communities and educating the people on the need and importance of voting as well as the voting procedure.
