FURIBS Commends Bayelsa Government on Malaria Vaccine Launch
Chief Barisuka Prince Beteh, president of Federated Union of Rivers Indigenes in Bayelsa state, FURIBS otherwise called Rivers Community commends the Bayelsa state government on the launch Federal Government initiated malaria vaccine in the state.
In a statement issued to journalists in Yenagoa, Chief Barisuka said the government of Bayelsa State especially Dr Gloria Douye Diri, wife of the Governor deserves all the accolade for the launch of the malaria vaccine in Bayelsa State as one of the two pilot state in Nigerian.
The president of FURIBS noted malaria is an epidemic causing several deaths across the global noting that will this vaccine, it will reduce the number of death and boost the immune system of new borns.
He commended the UNICEF and WHO for painstakingly developing the vaccine to help curb the impact of malaria especially amongst children in the society.
Chief Barisuka expressed gratitude to all partners involved in the development and distribution of the vaccine in Nigeria expressing hope that this will help reduce the treatment of malaria by poor families.
He called on mothers, and caregivers especially Rivers people in Bayelsa to avail their newborns from 5 months to get the prescribe dose of the vaccine to boost their immunity against malaria.
