Gloria Diri, Bayelsa First Lady Flags-off Anchor Borrowers Program
In line with the Prosperity Agenda of the State Government,the wife of the State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri on Tuesday flagged off the Anchor Borrowers Program to facilitate the Production of Noiler Birds.
The Program which is a pilot in the State held at the Conference Hall of the First Lady in Government House Yenagoa is targeted at Protein availability and Empowering women to become self reliant through Poultry Farming.
The Wife of the Governor who expressed appreciation to all the partners in the program hinted that the First Phase will be a testing ground that will ursher in a new livelihood for other women following its success.
She urged the beneficiaries to leverage on the opportunity provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria CBN and other partners to make a difference.
Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Hon.David Allagoa in his remarks while pledging the support of the Ministry to achieve a successful program said the Ministry will implore its Veterinary Doctors to provide adequate care for the Noiler Birds saying the Ministry is committed to ensuring Food Sufficiency and Mechanised Agriculture.
Also Speaking, State Coordinator Women Empowerment Initiative Team, Lady Margaret Agidee and the Head, Development Finance Central Bank of Nigeria Mr. Oruyeigha Stanley in their separate remarks highlighted the gains of the Anchor Borrowers Program Value Chain in the Poultry sector as one thousand Women from accross the Eight Local Government Areas Will benefit from the program as well as the provision and distribution of one hundred Noiler Birds to each beneficiary .
Highpoint of the flag off was the inauguration of a Seven Man Project Management Team PTM to supervise,advice and assist beneficiaries utilize the facility appropriately.
