His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, Governor of Bayelsa State today presided over the first security council meeting for the year 2024 at Govt. House, Yenagoa.

The Governor while appreciating Bayelsans for their peaceful conduct in the State, also welcomed the new head of security agencies to the State.

“Let me again appreciate the people of Bayelsa State. Security is not a one-man business, it is not a business of only the institutions, security is the business of everybody.

We all want to have a State where the State is safe, the State is peaceful. And one of those accolades that the State has received from Bayelsans and indeed Nigerians is that we have brought peace to Bayelsa State. Bayelsa State is no longer a place of militants, a place of cultists. Bayelsa State has come back to normalcy where you have people that will aspire to the greatest of heights like every other civil society,” Governor Diri said.

The new head of security agencies are Brig-Gen. O.O Obolo, 16 Brigade Command, Compt. Edenabu Douglas Eweka, Commander, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corp and Kanu C. Sunny, Commander, NDLEA.
