Governor Fubara Declares: Lost Grounds Will Be Regained in Rivers State
PORT HARCOURT – Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has assured the people of Rivers that every ground lost in the past will be regained through renewed unity, peace, and collective effort among all arms of government.
Governor Fubara made the declaration at the dedication service marking the opening of the 2025–2026 Legal Year, held at the Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Port Harcourt on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Addressing members of the Judiciary, Legislature, and Executive present at the service, Governor Fubara described the event as symbolic of a new beginning for Rivers State following recent reconciliation and peace across the political space. He said the state was now poised to recover lost grounds and achieve greater progress and development.
“In Rivers State today, we are marking a new beginning after the reconciliation and peace that God has granted us. I strongly believe that whatever we have lost, now that we are together, we will regain those grounds,” the governor declared.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to collaboration with the Legislature, Judiciary, and all stakeholders to ensure that the collective dream of a peaceful, prosperous, and united Rivers State is fully realized.
“The progress and development that we have all yearned for will not elude us. We will work as a team—the Executive, the Legislature, and the Judiciary—to achieve the Rivers State of our dreams by the grace of God,” Fubara said.
The governor also acknowledged the Judiciary as “the temple of justice,” urging judicial officers to continue upholding fairness and integrity so that innocent citizens do not suffer unjustly.
Fubara further expressed gratitude to the church for its continuous intercession and role in sustaining peace in the state. “I will continue to appreciate the church because their prayers cannot be removed from the peace we are enjoying in the state today,” he noted.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive, Judiciary, and Legislature, Governor Fubara extended appreciation to the leadership of the Corpus Christi Catholic Church for hosting the event that ushered in the 2025–2026 legal year.
“This is the one Rivers State where everyone can sit together, laugh together, and praise the Almighty together. Thank you for your prayers and for believing in one Rivers State. May God bless you all,” he concluded.
The dedication service, which drew key government officials, legal practitioners, and religious leaders, symbolized a renewed commitment to justice, peace, and unity in Rivers State under Governor Fubara’s administration.
