How God revived me after three days in mortuary — Amilo
For a popular Nollywood actor Jerry Amilo, opportunity to be alive is not short of a miracle.
The story of his survival after spending three days in mortuary following a ghastly accident is one that could be described as a second chance.
Jerry Amilo, an actor, producer and musician hails from Anambra State.
He holds Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. He was the former manager of Christy Essien before moving into Nollywood.
According to recent interview, when Jerry Amilo was asked why he disappeared from the movie scene, he replied, “I had a terrible accident and I was even confirmed dead. God brought me back to life. After staying in the hospital for two years I wanted to return to acting but people advised me to wait and allow the wounds to heal. It isn’t too long that I returned”.
According to him, he was travelling to a venue for the reel awards. One of the front tyres of my car pulled off. The car somersaulted over and over. him and his lawyer were in the car when it somersaulted. Both of them were reported dead.
He was also asked “you stayed in the mortuary for three days. How did it happen?
He said” according to what they told me, after the accident, we were taken to the police station as dead bodies. The next day we were transferred to the mortuary as dead bodies.
So how did you come back to life?
He replied saying ”As God would have it there was no light in the mortuary for those three days. Sometimes, this skeletal power could be helpful. Had it been there was electricity, I doubt I would be alive.
“Anyway, I was told the attendant who came to clean the morgue discovered that my body kept jerking every five minutes. When the attendant noticed this for a while, he ran away thinking I was a spirit. Infact the whole hospital went haywire. Everybody ran.
“I learnt that it was actually some young doctors on national youth service who braced up and said they were ready to see this ‘spirit’. When they got there they discovered that I was alive to the glory of God. He was taken to a hospital and treated. He stayed in that hospital for two years”.
