HRH Clarkson-Kikile Was an Outstanding Leader, Says Obe-Ovie 1 of Atissa Kingdom
The late HRH M. A. Clarkson-Kikile, Oguo the V has been eulogized as an outstanding traditional ruler who maintained peace and ably piloted affairs of Yenagoa Town for 41 years, since 1982 to 2023.
A member of the Atissa Kingdom Council of Chiefs, Professor Steve Azaiki, Obe-Ovie 1, stated this in a statement, describing the late paramount ruler as a servant-leader whose commitment to peace and progress, made him to stand out among his peers.
Professor Azaiki further stated that late Clarkson-Kikile was humble, upright, intelligent and eloquent, traits that endeared the late monarch to many people.
Azaiki recalled that in the military era and later in Chief D. S. P Alamieyeseigha administration, which he was commissioner and Secretary to Bayelsa State Government, respectively, HRH Clarkson-Kikile readily rendered advice to him and the government. He added that this was in addition to competently discharging traditional duties assigned to him by government.
He further said that the late traditional ruler continued to render selfless services to his people and to subsequent administrations in the state until death.
“HRH Clarkson-Kikile will be ever missed by the bereaved families, Yenagoa Town, Atissa Kingdom and the state, for his wise counsel and selfless services”, the Obe-Ovie 1 of Atissa stated.
Azaiki who is also a former Congressman, said he further benefited from the wise counsels of the late Clarkson-Kikile, when he was a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, lamenting that the death of the sage has created a vacuum difficult to feel.
He admonished the bereaved families to sustain the legacies of the late traditional ruler, assuring that on his part, he had profiled the deceased in the archives of great leaders at the Azaiki Public Library and African Museum, and would do more to immortalize the astute leader.
Reiterating his condolences to the bereaved families, Yenagoa Town Council of Chiefs and Atissa Kingdom Council of Chiefs, Azaiki prayed God to grant them the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
HRH M. A. Clarkson-Kikile died on August 3, 2023 in course of a brief illness. His funeral commenced November 16, 2024, and will end with final rites, Beletiomo, on December 8.
