Human Trafficking Fight Requires Collective Effort — NAPTIP Commander Ngozi Opara
The Bayelsa State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has emphasized that tackling human trafficking demands strong inter-agency collaboration, as it paid a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Yenagoa.
The visit, which took place on March 25, 2026, was led by the State Commander of NAPTIP, Mrs. Ngozi Opara, who said the agency was committed to strengthening its partnership with the NSCDC in the fight against human trafficking and related crimes.
Mrs. Opara noted that the purpose of the visit was to deepen the already existing relationship between both agencies, particularly in areas such as accommodating suspects, intelligence sharing, and joint operations.
She appreciated the NSCDC Bayelsa State Command for its continued support and responsiveness, stressing that synergy among security agencies remains crucial in achieving meaningful results.
“The fight against human trafficking cannot be won by a single agency. It requires the collective effort of all sister agencies working together,” she said.
In his response, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant M. Palmer, expressed gratitude for the visit and reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to supporting NAPTIP in combating human trafficking and other criminal activities in the state.
He assured that the NSCDC Bayelsa Command would continue to collaborate closely with NAPTIP to ensure the safety and protection of vulnerable persons.
A major highlight of the visit was the presentation of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials by the NAPTIP team, aimed at raising awareness and strengthening advocacy against human trafficking within the state.
The engagement further underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing security challenges and protecting human rights in Bayelsa State.
