
Human Trafficking: NAPTIP Seeks Partnership with NIMC in Yenagoa
The Bayelsa State Command of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) seeks partnership with the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) to curb incidences of human trafficking in the state.
Mrs. Abieyuwa Ikhidero, state commander of NAPTIP made this known, when she paid a courtesy visit to the staff and management of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in Yenagoa, the state capital.
According to Mrs. Ikhidero, the visit is very significance adding that partnership with NIMC in the fight against human trafficking would help reduce the number of trafficked victims.
The NAPTIP Bayelsa State command noted that such collaboration would facilitate the creation of a database for human traffickers, thereby strengthening the investigation unit’s ability to adhere to the agency’s standard operating procedures.
In his response, the State Coordinator of NIMC, Mr. Stephen Woyengi Inokoba, expressed his delight and appreciation for the visit.
He assured NAPTIP of NIMC’s full commitment to partnering with the agency in combating human trafficking in Bayelsa State.
A key highlight of the visit was the symbolic issuance of Red Cards to human traffickers, along with the presentation of NAPTIP’s Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials.
