
Isoko Ex-agitators Celebrate Senator Joel Onowapko over Appointment as Chairman, Senate Committee on Local Content
Ex-agitators under the aegis of Isoko Ex-agitators Forum have felicitated the senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Senator Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, over his appointment as chairman, Senate Committee on Local Content.
Onowakpo, in a congratulatory message had thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Obot Akpabio and the entire Senate leadership for the confidence reposed in him to chair the committee which will see to the enforcement of Nigerian Content.
He vowed to discharge his duties with utmost dedication, integrity, and a deep commitment to the advancement of legislative responsibilities, and also work tirelessly to promote local content policies that drive economic growth, empower Nigerians, and enhance national development.
Reacting to this, the Isoko Ex-agitators Forum, in a statement signed by its Chairman, the self-styled General Lucky Jonah, vowed to give the senator all the necessary support to succeed.
He also enjoined critical stakeholders, especially those in the Niger Delta region, to work closely with the federal lawmaker to see that the federal government’s vision of achieving at least 70 percent local content in the year 2027 is achieved.
General Lucky said this is something that requires synergy and strong commitment as this is one avenue that could change the fortunes of the youths of the Niger Delta, especially those rendering one form of service or the other in oil and gas related fields.
He also thanked the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, for finding Senator Onowakpo worthy of handling such a herculean task; saying that this decision will change the narratives in the oil and gas sector for the better.
He described the choice of Onowakpo as a round peg in a round hole; wishing him all the enablement to succeed.
