Justice For Peresuodei Patrick: Amassoma Monarch Condemns Killing, Demands Immediate Arrest Of Suspect
The Acting Amananaowei of Amassoma Community, His Royal Highness, Chief Godwill Akedesuo, has strongly condemned the brutal and unlawful killing of Patrick Peresuodei, a 24-year-old son of Amassoma, describing the act as gruesome, unacceptable, and a direct assault on the peace and dignity of the community.
Addressing members of the press in Amassoma, HRH Chief Akedesuo expressed deep outrage over the incident, which allegedly involved Mr. Bodmas Kemepadei, stating that the killing runs completely contrary to the values, culture, and long-standing tradition of hospitality for which Amassoma is widely known.
The monarch disclosed that the suspect, Bodmas Prince Kemepadei, is a graduate of the Niger Delta University who lived peacefully in Amassoma for several years throughout his undergraduate studies and later during his Master’s degree programme in Religious Studies at the same institution.
“Despite enjoying the warmth, accommodation, and goodwill of the Amassoma people, he chose to repay this community with violence by beating a young and promising Amassoma youth to death,” the traditional ruler said, describing the act as painful and unforgivable.
HRH Chief Akedesuo lamented that the killing of innocent Amassoma sons and daughters has occurred repeatedly over the years, often arising from minor and avoidable disputes involving non-indigenes.
He noted that while Amassoma has consistently demonstrated tolerance, compassion, and openness to strangers, such goodwill has been abused, leading to the loss of valuable lives.
“This injustice will no longer be tolerated,” the monarch declared, adding that the community has resolved to pursue the matter legally and relentlessly until justice is fully served.
In a strong warning, the Acting Amananaowei called on the communities of Koluama 1 in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area and Agoro in Sagbama Local Government Area, both in Bayelsa State—where the suspect is said to originate—to produce and hand over Mr. Bodmas Kemepadei to face the law.
He warned that failure to do so would compel the Amassoma Community to take further lawful steps to protect its people and uphold justice.
Consequently, Bodmas Kemepadei has been officially declared an enemy of the Amassoma Community. The monarch further cautioned that any Amassoma indigene found to be associating with the suspect in criminal, cultic, or idol-related activities must immediately disengage or risk being similarly declared an enemy of the community.
HRH Chief Akedesuo also emphasized that any individual involved in the killing—indigene or non-indigene—will face the full weight of the law, regardless of status or affiliation, noting that the community possesses clear and credible evidence.
He confirmed that a formal petition has been submitted to the Commissioner of Police through the community’s legal representatives and that, following this, Bodmas Kemepadei and members of his gang have been declared wanted by the Nigeria Police Force.
The monarch assured that the Amassoma Community would stand firmly with the family of the deceased until justice is achieved.
In light of ongoing legal actions, HRH Chief Akedesuo appealed to the Amassoma Youth Development Association (AYODA) Worldwide and its Yenagoa Chapter to suspend the protest earlier scheduled for Monday at the office of the Commissioner of Police, assuring them that the community leadership is fully committed to ensuring a thorough investigation.
“All actions, outcomes, and official updates will be promptly communicated to the public and published online,” he stated.
The traditional ruler concluded by expressing profound appreciation to individuals, organizations, and external bodies that have shown concern and support, urging all stakeholders to remain calm, law-abiding, and united as collective efforts continue to ensure that justice prevails.
“Justice for Peresuodei Patrick is justice for Amassoma,” he said.
