Kidnappers of Bayelsa Judge Confess as Police Parade 8 Suspects
Security agencies in Bayelsa have paraded eight suspects linked to the abduction of Justice Ebiyerin Omukoro, who was kidnapped on June 21 in Yenagoa.
Paraded by Commissioner of Police Francis Idu and DSS Director Adedapo Amao, the suspects, six men and two women, confessed to playing various roles in the operation.
One suspect, Justice Brodrick from Delta State, admitted they had no fixed target but kidnapped the judge after spotting him at an eatery.
He claimed the victim was treated “well” after identifying as an Ijaw man.
The DSS led the rescue and arrest, with support from the state government.
Commissioner Idu credited Governor Douye Diri’s administration for providing surveillance technology and logistics that aided the operation.
With the gang leader still on the run, police warned that Bayelsa is no longer safe for criminals, thanks to improved inter-agency cooperation and tech-driven security.
