Markmanuel And Group Pledge Total Support For Senator Diri’s Re-election  Bid

Former lawmaker, Dr. Parkinson Markmanuel and supporters have have said they would stop at nothing to work towards victory of Senator Douye Diri and his Deputy, Senator Lawrence Ehwrudjakpo in next month’s governoship election.

Dr. Markmanuel made the declaration today in an interview with news men at his support-base office for the Diri gubernatorial project in Yenagoa.

Markmanuel who is also a one-time Commission in Bayelsa State, stated that the infrastructural and human capital development strides of governor Diri, were eloquent testimonies of the governor’s zeal to transform Bayelsa.

He further stated that the incumbent governor deserves the support and votes of patriotic  Bayelsans who were keen about a leader who could take the plunge to build legacy projects such as roads and bridges to connect up major parts of the state, just as he has also provided additional roads in Yenagoa.

Dr. Markmanuel who leads a political organization known as Dr. PAM Political Family, said the group has already begun mobilising support for Diri’s re-election, ahead of the November 11 polls.

Last Saturday, the former lawmaker and his supporters decamped from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were they had gained ground in the past.

Speaking on behalf of the group, while being received by Governor Diri and other party stalwats, Dr. Markmanuel said their leaving the PDP for APC, prior to the  2019 governoship election was a political mistake, adding that nobody was foolish hence they were irked at been treated as such in their former party.

He lauded the governor for institutionalizing good governance in Bayelsa State, noting that the state was better off with the prevailing peace since assumption of office in 2020, pointing out that Diri has endeared himself to many Bayelsans, with humility and all-inclusive leadership styles.

The Agudama-Epie-born Markmanuel commended Senator (Chief) Paulker Izibefien Emmanuel, Life Time Chairman of  Epie-Atissa Leaders of Thought and the entire executives for providing leadership direction, to guide him and his team.

During the reception event held at the state secretariat of the PDP in Yenagoa, top notches of the PDP, dubbed Dr. Markmanuel’s return as a timely home coming which would shore up more support for the governor’s second term project.

Describing Markmanuel as a core grassroots politician with huge followership, Senator Diri thanked him and all the returnees for taking the right step. He assured that all rights and privileges would be accorded them in the PDP and in governance.

Senator Diri, who also appreciated Yelga One Constituency: Epie-Atissa, implored them and the entire Yenagoa Local Government Area as well as the whole state to retain their confidence in him, reassuring that he would deliver more projects when returned to office for a second term.

The governor called on those who wish to join his winning train to do so, assuring that there was enough space to accomodate them in the PDP and in  his administration.

Also speaking, chairman of PDP in the state, Hon. Solomon Agwana, who spoke through the secretary, Hon. Gesiye Isowo, saluted the courage of the rerunees to the PDP, stressing that the party and the Prosperity Government have regard for people, thus wouldn’t let them down.

In his remarks, Lifetime Leader of Epie-Atissa Leaders of Thought, Senator Paulker, represented by his Deputy, Prof Steve Azaiki, reassured Governor Diri and Senator Ehwrudjakpo of total support in the elecion, notably from it’s members and supporters who are of the PDP.

Present at the occasion from Epie-Atissa were Hon. Oforji Oboku, member representing Yenagoa-Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency One; Hon. Ayibanengiyefa Egba, member representing Yenagoa constituency One in the State Assembly; and an Ex-Officio member of Epie-Atissa Leaders of Thought who is also Commissioner for Health, Dr. Pabara Newton Igwele.

Others were Dr. Boma Spero-Jack, Vice Chairman of Epie-Atissa Leaders of Thought, Dr. (Chief)  Boma Spero-Jack; the Secretary, Dr. Patterson Ogon, Executive Assistant to the Governor of policy, Strategy and Governance;  Chief Natus Zebakame, Financial Secretary, amongst others.
