NCDMB at EINGICE 2025: Driving Africa’s Energy Financing and Procurement Efficiency
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) made a remarkable impact at the 2nd EMOGAS International Natural Gas-Based Industry Conference and Exhibition (EINGICE 2025), held in Abuja from 30–31 October 2025. The conference was themed “The Strategic Role of Africa’s Energy Banks and Governments Towards Easier Procurement of Natural Gas Industry Equipment and Technologies.”
Representing the Executive Secretary, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, FNSE, the General Manager, Midstream Division – Mrs. Lekoma Sonia Phimia, delivered a powerful keynote address that underscored NCDMB’s pivotal role in fostering energy financing, technology access, and industrial sustainability across Africa.
Mrs. Phimia highlighted NCDMB’s contribution to the establishment of the Africa Energy Bank (AEB)—a critical platform designed to enhance access to funding and streamline procurement across the continent’s energy sector. She reaffirmed Nigeria’s $100 million capital pledge to the AEB and its active role in shaping the Bank’s governance framework.
In her remarks, Mrs. Phimia also showcased the success of the Nigerian Content Development Fund (NCDF), which has disbursed over $300 million to empower indigenous oil and gas companies—boosting capacity, innovation, and competitiveness within the sector.
She further outlined ongoing reforms by NCDMB, including the Nigerian Content Contracting Cycle and the Nigerian Content Equipment Certification (NCEC) initiative, which have significantly enhanced transparency, efficiency, and local manufacturing in the procurement process.
“Access to finance and efficient procurement systems are the twin engines of industrial growth,” Mrs. Phimia stated. “The African Energy Bank must not only exist in structure but in substance—unlocking access to financing, easing procurement, and promoting industrial capacity across Africa.”
The NCDMB reaffirmed its commitment to driving sustainable gas-based industrialization, strengthening regional partnerships, and promoting policies that will ensure Africa’s energy independence and economic resilience.
