NCDMB Facilitates Dialogue Between Oando Energy Resources and Host Communities in Southern Ijaw
The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has facilitated a mediation dialogue between Oando Energy Resources and representatives of the Okiama and Fierebaghama communities in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. The meeting was held at the Nigerian Content Tower, Swali, Yenagoa.
The intervention followed a petition submitted on September 17, 2025, by the two communities, alleging neglect and non-compliance with the provisions of the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act, 2010, by Oando Energy Resources.
In response, the NCDMB convened the dialogue to promote mutual understanding and find an amicable resolution between the company and the host communities.
Chairing the session, Mr. Ifeanyi Okoha, General Manager, Zonal Coordination, reaffirmed the Board’s commitment to fostering constructive engagement and sustainable partnerships as key pillars for ensuring compliance with the NOGICD Act and maintaining peaceful host community relations.
Community representatives at the meeting appealed to the Board to ensure Oando Energy Resources fulfills its obligations under the Act and strengthens its relationship with the host communities. In turn, the company expressed its readiness to work closely with the communities and the Board to resolve all outstanding issues.
Also in attendance were Mr. Dallas Asangolo, Manager, Zonal Coordination; Mr. Adebayo Joseph, Senior Manager, Projects; and other officials from the Zonal Coordination Directorate of the NCDMB.
