Nembe-Brass Road Progressing with Final Pavement Phase – Teibowei
Bayelsa State Commissioner of Works and Infrastructure, ESV Moses Teibowei has expressed optimism on the completion of the 21km Nembe-Brass Road project, declaring that the project is at the final pavement phase.
The Commissioner who was on an inspection visit to the site expressed confidence that, given the current pace of work, vehicles will be able to reach the St. Nicholas River by the end of this year, 2026.
According to him, the project has recorded several milestones with the completion of sand filling across the entire 21km stretch, sand-cement stabilization advanced to kilometre 15 and stone base preparation completed up to kilometre 13.5.
Also recorded is the asphalting of 6 kilometres stretch, a clear sign that the project has entered the final pavement phase.
The 2nd major bridge over Kiberi river is at advanced stage of completion.
He said: “The progress here is remarkable. You can see that the first bridge has since been fully completed while bridges 2, 3 and 4 are about 90 percent complete and piling actively ongoing for the 5th bridge, with construction simultaneously progressing on five additional bridges.”
“I strongly believe that vehicles will be able to drive through to St Nicholas River by the end of this year,” Teibowei affirmed, underscoring his confidence in meeting the ambitious timeline.
He reiterated Governor Douye Diri’s unyielding commitment to this transformative project and other infrastructural developments across the state, aimed at connecting riverine communities and unlocking economic potential in Bayelsa East.
While commending Setraco for the remarkable achievements to date, the commissioner urged the firm to deploy more personnel to sustain the momentum and ensure timely delivery.
The Commissioner was accompanied on the inspection Engr. Apurumelala Cliff-Eribo (Director of Civil Engineering, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure) and ESV Francis Mumeya (Director covering the duties of Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Lands and Survey).
