
NEPHWAN Calls for Quality HIV Treatment and Care Services in Yenagoa
The Bayelsa State chapter of the Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, NEPHWAN has called on key stakeholders to strengthen HIV services inorder to ensure that those living with the disease are given quality HIV treatment and care services in the state.
Bayelsa State Coordinator, NEPHWAN, Mrs Rose Nwokezie made the call during a meeting with officials of the Clinical Care and Clinical Research CCCRN held at the SACA Administrative office, Transparency Plaza Oxbow lake Swali, Yenagoa on the 29th of May, 2025.
Mrs Nwokezie noted that CCCRN should work harmoniously with them by providing more HIV services through interventions programs, increased medical services and provision of Anti retroviral Therapy, ART for those living with HIV to enhance longevity.
She urged the implementing partners to reinstate workers such as case managers, mentor mothers and other persons who had lost their jobs due to the current reduction in funding for HIV programs.
However, the NEPHWAN Coordinator commended the CCCRN and other implementing partners who have been working hard in the state to achieve a zero tolerance for HIV.
Also speaking, Chief of Party for the Ace-4 project coordinated by the CCCRN, Dr Andrew Etsetowghan explained that the HIV interventions would in the state would be reduced to focus on life saving activities for patients who are currently on treatment.
Dr Etsetowghan appealed to NEPHWAN and other related associations to give them the needed support by providing useful information for the successful implementation of their projects which is aimed at reducing HIV in the state.
The meeting was attended by members of NEPHWAN, Association of Women living with HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, ASWHAN and Adolescent and Young People Living with HIV, APYIN including staff of the BYSACA.
