NOA Calls For Financial Support from State Governments

Mr. Ellis Nria Dappa, the State Director of National Orientation Agency, NOA in Bayelsa State calls on the state and local governments leadership to give a financial support to the Agency to enable them carried out their work effectively.

Mr. Ellis noted that with the assistance of the state and local government, the agency would be empowered to carry out more sensitisation across all parts of the state.

The state Director disclosed this during a courtesy visit by a Non Governmental Organization, Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation (ENWAF) in his office at Federal Secretariat building in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital.

He disclosed that the National Orientation Agency is prepared to carry out sensitisation on the forthcoming Local government election scheduled for April this year and it required a lot of funds especially in covering the rural areas.

” Bayelsa is 70 percent riverine which means we will spend more compared to when the sensitisation is being done on motorable areas. That is where we need the assistance of the state and local government in order to cover virtually the entire state. We don’t have enough funds to do it alone, that is why we are calling on all stakeholders to join hands with us”.

The NOA in the state also urged the visiting NGO, ENWAF to support them during the local government election sensitisation they will soon embark upon in the state.

“We will also invite you to join us in some communities where we will visit so that together we can talk about the betterment of women”.

He encourage ENWAF as an NGO that is focused on the welfare of women to work with the state Ministry of Health to carry out immunization on women and children.

“Basically, National Orientation Agency is a parastatal of the federal government authorized by law to inform, educate and sensitise the people on government policies and programmes. There are other things we do like giving feedback to government from the people on the state of the economy. We feel the pause of the people, know what is happening and we have offices across the eight local government areas of the state which also help federal government on their policies and programmes”.

In her earlier speech, the Chief Executive Officer of Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation (ENWAF) Lady Eunice Nnachi said the purpose of the visit was to familiarize with the Agency and to seek partnership to sustain government polices.

She emphasized that ENWAF is ready to partner with NOA in all their activities across the state to achieve success.

“We are ready to work with your office, collaborate, and partner to carry out your gender friendly programmes and activities that will promote peace and human interest, in Bayelsa state.”
