OCF Hosts Debate and Quiz Competition to Strengthen Unity Between Oruma and Otuasega Communities
The Oruma Comrade Family (OCF) on Friday, November 28, 2025, hosted a vibrant debate and quiz competition between schools in Oruma and Otuasega, aimed at promoting academic excellence and strengthening communal ties. The event, held at the Oruma Civic Centre, brought together students, community leaders, and education stakeholders in an atmosphere of healthy rivalry and shared purpose.
In his welcome address, Senior Comrade Okilo Wilberforce described the programme as an “epoch-making event” and a remarkable milestone for OCF and the two neighbouring communities. He noted that the initiative was designed to stimulate intellectual engagement, encourage creative expression, and reinforce unity among the “sister communities.”
According to him, the 2025 edition of the competition reflects OCF’s commitment to “aiding educational competition, fostering unity, and giving back to society.”
Comrade Wilberforce further urged participants to embrace the competition in good faith, advising students not to view it as a “do-or-die affair” but as a motivation to work harder in their academic journeys.
The highlight of the event was the inter-school contests, which saw CSS Otuasega emerge victorious in the debate session against CSS Oruma. In the quiz category, State Primary School 1 Oruma and State Primary School 2 Otuasega clinched wins in their respective matchups, earning applause from the audience.
The programme ended with a closing prayer led by the OCF Woman Leader, Comrade Believe Olodi, who commended the organizers and encouraged the students to continue pursuing excellence.
The OCF reiterated its commitment to sustaining initiatives that promote learning, unity, and youth development across both communities.
