
Oil Spillage: Nigerian Government Showing Readiness To Clean Up Ogoni, Other Communities
The Federal Government of Nigeria, on Wednesday, reinstated it’s readiness to clean up Ogoni communities and other communities in the Niger Delta region imparted by crude oil spill.
Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Sen. Heineken Lokpobiri, made government’s position known when he hosted Dr. Nkiruka Maduekwe, Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), in his office.
Lokpobiri, noted that the FG u der the leadership of President Bola Tinubu, remains resolute in safeguarding the well-being of the communities and preserving the environment, even as we pursue operational excellence.
He said “This commitment resonates with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s demonstrated resolve to clean up lands affected by oil spills.
In our drive to ramp up production, a key focus remains on adopting cleaner and greener processes to ensure a safe and sustainable environment.
