Rivers Administrator Outlines Mandate to Restore Peace, Stability
Ibom Ete Ekwe Ibas, Sole Administrator of Rivers State has outlined his mandate to restore law and order, stabilising the polity, and to create the necessary conditions required for the full restoration of democratic institutions and representation.
Vice Admiral Ibas however, noted that this onerous tasks will require the collective efforts of all Rivers people including elders, political leaders, traditional rulers, faith leaders, youth, women, the media, and civil society.
He made the statement in a State-wide broadcast to residents of the State in Government House in Port Harcourt on Thursday 20th March 2025.
The broadcast, came shortly after vice Admiral Ibas had assumed duties officially as sole administrator of Rivers State.
Thereafter he had separate meetings with service commanders and Permanent Secretaries of Government Ministries, including having a State Security Council Session where he eventually directed them to remain apolitical.
Vice Admiral Ibas assured that he had come as a servant, entrusted with the solemn duty of restoring peace and order.
He insisted that Rivers State can move forward once again to reclaiming its rightful place as the Oil and Gas Capital of Nigeria and I dare say Africa.
Vice Admiral Ibas therefore, urged all residents in the State to remain law-abiding, peaceful, and optimistic while setting aside their differences and work together in rebuilding trust, restoring stability, and protecting the future of Rivers children.
He also said that while civil liberties and fundamental human rights will be respected and protected, the rule of law will remain sacrosanct.
Vice Admiral Ibas advised those who may seek to sabotage the social or Rivers economic stability, national infrastructure and institutions within the State to have a rethink because he will not tolerate any attempt to disrupt the peace for selfish or destructive ends.
