
Rivers Community Seeks Support from Lands and Survey Ministry
In a bid to actualize its dream of building a befitting secretariat in Yenagoa, the Federated Union of Rivers Indigenes in Bayelsa state (FURIBS) otherwise known as Rivers Community is seeking the support of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Lands and Survey.
Speaking during a courtesy visit Chief Barisuka Prince Beteh, President, Rivers state Community, to Hon. Perepuighe Biewari, Commissioner of Lands and Survey, said the Rivers Community is requesting three plots of land for the construction of a befitting community secretariat.
Accordign to him, this Secretariat will serve as a hub for our community’s activities, fostering unity, progress, and development among our people.
He explained that the secretariat will house various activities such as our weekly and monthly meetings and facilities that will enable us to better serve our community. It will be as a terminal for our people coming into Bayelsa state for business and other activities.
Chief Beteh told his host that Rivers state community is a welfare driving social-cultural union comprising of all Rivers indigenes residing here in the state. The membership is an upshoot of the twenty three (23) local government areas of Rivers state. The aim is to secure and organize all Rivers state indigenes by birth, marriage and even working towards promoting economic, political and cultural development of Bayelsa state.
In his response, Hon. Perepuighe Biewari heartily expressed his appreciation to the union for taking out time to visit him and for their support to the state government.
He assured them that their requests and concerns will be taken into consideration.
