
The Twin Turbines Have Come To Stay ~ Diri Assures Bayelsans
The much expected gas turbine earlier promised by the state government has made possible. Speaking with journalists at the site of the twins gas turbine in Elebele in Ogbia local government area of Bayelsa State, Engineer Steve Bubagha sad six gas turbines have arrived the state maintaining that the remaining two were on their way to the state in no distant time.
He further highlights the process of the gas turbine installation was close to eighty five percent (85%) completed stressing that metering of the state will be more affordable for Bayelsans immediately after commissioning by December this year.
Engr. Steve Bubagha who is the Director of Operations of Bayelsa State Electricity Company said, every in Yenagoa will be cover as beneficiary of what the government is doing.
According to him, the state government has procured six turbines and still expecting the remaining two.
He said the government is progressing seriously at this stage and they are about locating the turbines properly based on the dimensions and that progress has made so far and they are going to start installation soon as media coming back will have a full blown turbine.
He further said, immediately the installation is fully completed they shall have a pre -commission and he know that the governor has been airing his views in the public about when the light will come on and we don’t even need to know that date from him.
“We are about 95% done with the electrical reticulation of the power system with our 33kv network. After installation which is the balancing of the plant, we will start the installation of the turbines properly to achieve its purpose.
“The governor has consistently said that Bayelsa will pay for the light. And so if the governor who has gone this far to make sure that this project is installed in Yenagoa, it then means that he will also make sure that everything will be done to make sure that we have meters”.
Also speaking, Comrade Wisdom Ikuli, who is the Technical Adviser to the governor on Media and Public Affairs, said the Governor, Douye Diri had promised earlier which he is fulfilling his promise of lighting up the state, stressing that when the state is lighted up, many businesses will come alive in the State.
According to the Technical Adviser, people in the state should be ready to pay for the light they consume, saying that adding even in Aso rock, people pay for electricity they consume.
He said by January this year, the place we are was bushy and swampy, not even been cleared by January this year. But now, people can see what is happening.
He emphasize that the power His Excellency promised that before the end of this year, there will be twenty for hours interrupted electricity in Bayelsa State is gradually coming to reality, adding that people are going to get a multiplier effect and multitude of people will come into Bayelsa State and businesses will boom rapidly.
Comrade Wisdom Ikuli thanked Governor Douye Diri for procuring two aircrafts for the state maintaining that “in the next few months, Bayelsans power will see what the governor is doing for the people, stressing that is not going to be as an audio project.
“Power was a general problem in this country but maintained that “we are very sure of power with Governor Diri and that is in consonance with the Governor’s mantra of this administration which is Assured Prosperity”.

“The gas is bought and so from the owners of the gas they buy it and transform to electricity. We know how much we pay on fuel. We buy Solar Panels, Diesel and all of that. In this case we are talking about an insignificant amount considering how much we pay on fuel and all of that.
