Tinubu Reaffirms Commitment to Security as Kidnapped Worshippers and Students Are Rescued
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reaffirms his commitment to restoring safety across the country, declaring that “we will secure this nation” after security forces successfully rescued dozens of abducted citizens in Kwara and Niger states.
In a statement on Sunday, the President revealed that he cancelled his scheduled trip to the G20 Summit in South Africa to personally coordinate national security efforts following the recent surge in kidnappings.
According to him, all 38 worshippers abducted in Eruku, Kwara State have been rescued, while 51 of the missing students from the Catholic school in Niger State have also been recovered through ongoing security operations.
The President said he is “closely monitoring the security situation nationwide” and receiving constant updates from operational commanders at the front lines.
“Let me be clear: I will not relent,” Tinubu stated. “Every Nigerian, in every state, has the right to safety — and under my watch, we will secure this nation and protect our people.”
The President commended the efforts of security agencies and assured the public that operations to locate and rescue remaining abducted victims are continuing.
