Use the Cyberspace Positively to Bring Development, Bayelsa Youths Urged
Youths in Bayelsa State have been urged to use the cyberspace positively in order to bring development to their lives and the society.
Chairman, Bayelsa Youth Leadership Awards, BYLA, Comrade Atti Joshua Moses came out with this during the International Youth Day Concert held at the Martho Crystal Hotel in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital.
Comrade Moses noted that the Bayelsa Youth Leadership Awards is an initiative that is geared towards recognizing youths who have contributed to state development in various fields of endeavor.
“This is the 8th edition of the Bayelsa State Leadership Awards which is to honour advocates of youth development, it also serves as an avenue to discuss youth issues in global perspective”
While speaking on the theme From Click to Progress, Youth Digital Pathway to Sustainable Development, he called on the youths to be cautious of demerits of the cyberspace which also causes many social vices that hinder the progress of youths in achieving their goals and visions.
Also speaking, Chairman, Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, Bayelsa State, Comrade Samuel Numonengi who was an award recipient commended organizers of the event for the honor given to him adding that he would put more effort in his profession for the development of the state.
Comrade Numonengi who advised youths on the importance of getting educated emphasized that education is a pathway to excellence in life.
“No matter where you find yourself, get educated, then you can still pursue your dreams. Whatever your dreams are, go and get educated because you may need that certificate that you are calling a scam to excel”
Other award recipients include the National Women Leader, IYC Worldwide, Selina Youpele, IYC President, Sir Jonathan Lokpobiri, Comrade Gifted Natus, Cherish Daniel Markson among others.
The Honorary Award recipients include Dr Samuel Ogbuku, MD, NDDC, Prof Nimibofa Ayawei, SSG, Bayelsa State, Mrs. Didi Walson Jack, Hon Tonye Isenah, Commissioner for Science and Communications, Munalayefa Gibson, Chief Robert Enogha, Chief Ebitimi Amgbare and ACP Ebipamowei Okoyen.
The International Youth Day is celebrated every year on the 12th of August in line with United Nations agenda for youth development.
