Why Hensard University Remains Top Notch for Academic Excellence – VC, Kumar
Professor Dileep Kumar, Vice Chancellor, Hensard University, has said the advantage the institution has over others was the institution’s complete focus on entrepreneur education where skills are connected to employment.
Kumar, while speaking with our correspondent in his office at the temporary site of the institution in Toru-Orua, emphasized that the institution was established to change the narrative of graduates staying jobless, but becoming masters of their own craft.
Professor Kumar, noted that the University is preparing Nigeria youths for the future, hence the need to integrate practical with theory, adding that one reasons why some youths are not fit into labour market is because of the inability of most institutions to teach practical in schools, so when graduated it becomes difficult to connect skills to employment.
He disclosed that students are already desirous to apply for Hensard due to the peculiarity of the institution in terms of Entrepreneurship, Leadership Development, Research and Accademic Excellent, further, said that non of the aforementioned areas are focused by any other university.
He maintained that Thousands of applicants into the institution were at the weekend present to aptitude test and evaluation of applicants were conducted by the school management to select qualified students.
His words “The aptitude test which was conducted at the Hensard University Take-off Campus in Toru Orua, Bayelsa state, was devoid of examination malpractices was for applicants seeking admission into the university for both under graduate programs and foundation level.
He added ” We are not going to ignore any student, wether is a slow learner, a medium learner or a high learner. We will be ensuring a holistic development of our students on campus. Hensard University is much more acceptable to the community,and contributing their efforts towards this kind of development.Hensard is one of the best choice,a choice rather than chance”
In other to curb examination malpractices in schools, the University Don, opted for more practicals in schools than theories, hinting that lack of connecting practicals to theories is one of the reasons of unemployment in the society, while calling on schools to follow continuous assessment system .
He maintained that Hensard curriculum is designed in such a way that lecture, tutorial and practice are topnotch, however the university helmsman said more is given to skills oriented (practicals) in balance to tutorial and lecturing matters
In terms of security, the VC said there’s nothing to be worried about as proper measures have been put in place to ensure a secure environment for all, asides he pointed that, the police, army and other security agencies are fully on ground to forestall any form of insecurity.
Dr. Eucharia Igbafe, Director of Hensard University Foundation School, said the aim of the Hensard University Foundation School is to prepare the students for JAMB, WAEC and other tertiary education examinations.
She also stated that the University seeks to prepare students emotionally, mentally and physically for their university education.
Some of the applicants who spoke to our correspondent said the University has the facilities and pedagogical materials that meets global education standards.
Master Timipre Agbarisinde, said with the facilities and learning materials at Hensard University, it has what it takes to compete with any university in the world.
Also, Miss Progress Bonny-gawei, another applicant said with the unique offers Hensard University has placed for it’s Students in practicals and entrepreneurship, students of the University can excel in their academics and compete with favorably with other students in other universities globally.
She urged parents to send their children and wards to Hensard University to enable them excel in the chosen fields and get the quality of education that meets global standard.
Hensard University is offering five courses for a start which includes Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Science and Computing, Faculty of Environmental Sciences, Faculty of Mass Communication, and Faculty of Arts, Social and Management Sciences together with its foundation program.
