
WOMAN Raises Awareness on Exclusive Breastfeeding in Yenagoa
As part of activities to empower women on key health and civic issues, the Women Organized for Mentorship and Advocacy Network, WOMAN held a sensitization program in Agudama community to raise awareness on exclusive breastfeeding, the mpox vaccine, menstrual hygiene and voters registration.
Speaking during the event, Executive Director, WOMAN, Lady Eunice Nnachi noted that the goal is to empower women with knowledge that would enable them to take care of their families and live healthier lives.
Lady Nnachi also urged women particularly first time voters to ensure that they get registered inorder to take active roles in the electoral process.
While answering questions from some women at the popular Agudama Market, she provided information on how and where to register to ensure that women are well prepared ahead of the next election.
On her part, Public Relations Officer, WOMAN, Elizabeth Vincent who spoke on menstrual hygiene advised parents to support their female children by providing menstrual products and educating them on personal hygiene during menstruation.
Speaking on the mpox virus and vaccine, Administrative Secretary, Ebizimo Agedah informed residents about the disease, its symptoms and the importance of taking vaccines as she also urged residents to embrace the vaccine which are safe and effective.
Some business men and women at the market expressed gratitude to the members of the Women Organized for Mentorship and Advocacy Network, WOMAN for the initiative, describing it as timely and impactful.
