
Women Societies: Bayelsa First Lady, Diri Resolves 8 years Leadership Tussle of State Council
Members of the National Council for Women Societies NCWS in the State have resolved to work together in unity and oneness of purpose to move the Association forward.
This follows the intervention,steps taken and efforts made by the First Lady, Dr. Mrs. Gloria Diri in appealing to all aggrieved members to sheath their sword.
The First Lady who lamented the avoidable set backs, disunity among members and loss of benefits due the National Council of Women Societies at the state and national levels owing to the bickering sued for peace saying misunderstandings are bye products of human relationships and finding a common ground provides for mutual resolution.
Dr.Diri challenged the NCWS to go back to their mandate and pursue the purpose for which it was established many years ago and remain apolitical.
The mediation by the Wife of the Governor brought members of the two factions in a two- day discussions where all standing issues, grievances came to the fore and was addressed.
Resolutions reached during the meeting held at the Conference Hall of the First Lady in Government House,Yenagoa include the co-opting of 3 life members, Pioneer President of the NCWS Mrs Victoria Denenu, Dame Fortune Dorgu, Dr Mrs. Grace Koroye into the already existing Caretaker Committee led by Biobelemo Akpolo to liase with the National Secretariat to conduct Election into the various Executive Offices in accordance with the provisions of the NCWS Constitution in the next two months.
The meeting was attended by Life Members, Elders,the 2nd National Vice President Barr.Mrs Ebi Ogionwo,Past Presidents,Local Government Coordinators and members of NCWS accross the Eight Local Government Areas of the State.
