The areas affected are parts of Edepie, Opolo, Akenfa, Agudama, Azikoro, Amarata Ekeki and Igbogene.

Some residents who spoke to our correspondent said the floods have destroyed some household items such as furnitures and clothes adding that they find it very uncomfortable to sleep in their own homes.

Others noted that their business centres and shops were heavily flooded leading to loss of goods and some equipment.

They called on the state government to come to urgently their aid as the rainy season would continue hence more flooding is expected.

Mr Rogers Ebiki, who resides in Azikoro town urged the government to swing into action by opening up all blocked canals and clearing of drainages to ensure a free flow of waters.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Environment, Mr Ben Ololo has assured residents of the government’s commitment to tackling flood related issues in the state.

Mr Ololo noted that government would visit the affected parts and access the situation inorder to take prompt actions to mitigate the impact of the flood.
