Arsenal Fight Back To Beat Chelsea 2-1 In Emirates Thriller
By Mercy Tula – Arsenal came from a goal down to defeat Chelsea 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, maintaining their perfect start to the 2026/27 Premier League campaign.
Chelsea stunned the defending champions inside the opening two minutes when Morgan Rogers fired home after Arsenal failed to clear a set-piece. The early strike was Arsenal’s first goal conceded in the league this season.
The Gunners responded with sustained pressure and eventually drew level in the 25th minute through Kai Havertz. The German forward cut inside from the right before firing a low effort past former Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano MartÃnez.
Chelsea threatened to regain the advantage before the interval, with Pedro Neto hitting the post, but both sides went into the break level.
Arsenal completed the turnaround five minutes into the second half. Havertz cleverly allowed a pass to run through to Martin Ødegaard, who burst into the box and finished emphatically to put the hosts 2-1 ahead.
Chelsea pushed for an equaliser and came close on several occasions, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya produced a crucial late save to deny Estêvão and preserve the champions’ advantage.
The victory gives Arsenal nine points from three matches, keeping them level with Manchester City at the top of the table. Chelsea, meanwhile, suffered their first defeat of the new Premier League season and remain on six points.
The result also extends Arsenal’s unbeaten run against Chelsea to 12 matches across all competitions, underlining their recent dominance in the London rivalry.
