ATPN Unveils Sola Alamutu to Head SWITEX 2026 Organising Committee
By Dim Oba – The Association of Tourism Practitioners of Nigeria (ATPN), South West Region, has appointed Ambassador Sola Alamutu as Chairman of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2nd South West International Tourism Expo (SWITEX 2026), slated to hold in Ogun State.
The appointment was announced in an official memorandum issued by the Office of the National Vice President, ATPN South West Region, as preparations intensify for what is expected to be one of the region’s largest tourism and hospitality events in 2026.
National Vice President of ATPN South West Region, Hon. Apata Samson Nunayon, said Alamutu’s appointment was in recognition of her dedication to tourism development, exemplary leadership, and outstanding contributions to the growth of the association in Ogun State and across the South West.
He noted that her experience in stakeholder engagement and membership mobilisation makes her well suited to coordinate the planning and successful delivery of the tourism expo.
According to the memo, the Local Organising Committee will serve as the implementation arm of SWITEX 2026, working under the policy direction and supervision of the South West Executive Council (SWEC) to ensure the event meets the vision and standards of the association.
Nunayon called on ATPN members across Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti and Ondo states, alongside government agencies, development partners, investors, hospitality operators, travel professionals, cultural organisations and media practitioners, to support the committee in delivering a successful event.
He stressed that the success of SWITEX 2026 would depend on the collective commitment and collaboration of stakeholders across the tourism value chain.
Describing SWITEX as the flagship tourism platform in South West Nigeria, Nunayon said the expo has continued to promote the region’s tourism potential, cultural heritage, hospitality industry and investment opportunities while fostering stronger partnerships between public and private sector stakeholders.
He expressed confidence that the Ogun State edition would build on the successes recorded during the maiden edition hosted in Lagos and further strengthen the South West’s position as Nigeria’s leading tourism destination.
The appointment of Ambassador Alamutu is widely seen as a major step towards ensuring the successful hosting of SWITEX 2026, with stakeholders expressing optimism that Ogun State will deliver a world-class tourism exposition that showcases the region to both national and international audiences.
