Bayelsa at 30, Nigeria at 66: Ebikake Calls for Unity, Patriotism
Member representing Brass/Nembe Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate for Bayelsa East Senatorial District, Hon. Marie Enenimiete Ebikake, has felicitated with Nigerians on the 66th Independence anniversary and Bayelsans on 30 years of statehood.
In a goodwill message on Thursday, Ebikake said the twin milestones provide an opportunity to reflect on the journey so far, honour the legacies of heroes and founding fathers, and renew commitment to a more prosperous, peaceful and united society.
She noted that since its creation on October 1, 1996, Bayelsa has recorded progress in infrastructure, education, healthcare, sports, tourism, public utilities and other critical sectors.
Ebikake commended the Renewed Prosperity Administration for projects improving lives across the state, citing the completed 60-megawatt gas turbine power plant at Elebele, which she said will boost businesses, public services and job creation, and the ongoing 30,000-capacity multipurpose international stadium at Igbogene.
She also lauded the relative peace and stability in the state, stressing that peace creates an enabling environment for government programmes, businesses, investments and communities to thrive.
“As true Bayelsans, let us continue to promote dialogue, tolerance, unity and peaceful coexistence,” she said.
The lawmaker urged Bayelsans to embrace patriotism, unity and responsible citizenship, and to continue contributing meaningfully to national development.
She congratulated the government and people of Bayelsa on 30 years of statehood and all Nigerians on 66 years of independence, calling for sustained efforts to build a Bayelsa and a Nigeria future generations will be proud of.
