Bayelsa Education Commissioner Charges Beauty Queens to Promote Girl-Child Education

The Honourable Commissioner for Education Bayelsa State, Hon. Gentle Emelah has charged Beauty Queens and members of Miss Bayelsa Foundation to promote girl-child education.

Hon. Emelah made charge when received a delegation from the Miss Bayelsa Beauty Pageant Foundation in his office at the Education House Ovom, Yenagoa.

The Commissioner thanked them for coming and encouraged them to keep making the state proud, calling on them to be worthy role models to the younger generation and continue to promote girl child education in the state.

Earlier in her remarks, Queen Ghandi B. Beatrice, Face of Bayelsa 2019/2020 who spoke on behalf of the team thanked the Commissioner for granting them audience also, she congratulated him on his well deserved appointment as the Commissioner for Education Bayelsa State.

She expressed confidence in his ability to bring to bare his wealth of experience as a former lawmaker and a well known educationist.

According to her, “The Miss Bayelsa Pageantry is one that exudes excellence, elegance and creativity to the delight of everyone regardless of their field of enthusiasm”.

“Beyond it’s entertainment value, the pageant creates a platform for the energetic young Bayelsa girl to showcase her beauty in brilliant performances using her individual talents” she stated.

Speaking further, she officially invited the Honourable Commissioner to the next Pageant slated to hold on the 19th of December 2020 while seeking for partnership and collaboration with the Ministry of Education.

On the “International Day of the girl child”, Queen Beatrice said it was used to raise awareness on beauty, resilience and the intelligence of the Ijaw girl child and the need to protect her from all forms of abuse.

Professor. Mrs. Ayebaemi I. Spiff, A Bayelsa Born Professor of Chemistry who was present at the meeting, charged the girls to preach “Education” to the Ijaw girl child she emphasized that if the girl child is well educated, she won’t be disregarded by the male counterpart.

The delegation was joined by Queen George Kimberly, Mr. Chidi Obasi – Chairman Organizing Committee, Mr. Victor Oroyi -Media, Documentation and Research as well as Mr. Ndamati Innocent who is the Head of Protocol.
