BMNA Nominates Trillium Stars British International School as “Best Discovery School of the Year”
The Proprietress of Trillium Stars British International School, Kpansia, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, Mrs. Onu Chioma, said on Monday that the award given to the school will encourage them to attain even greater heights.
Mrs. Onu, who was ably represented by the Administrator of the school, Mrs. Egbe Anne, made the remark when members of the Bayelsa Media Network Awards visited the school to inform them of its nomination as Best Discovery School of the Year. She reiterated their commitment to maintaining the discipline, integrity, and academic excellence that have sustained the school’s growth over the years.
Trillium Stars British International School is being recognized as the Best Discovery School of the Year in Bayelsa State by the Bayelsa Media Network Awards (BMNA), with the ceremony scheduled for December 26, 2025, at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State Council.
According to her, “It was unexpected considering the big schools with big names and solid structures everywhere. It is a joyful thing and also a source of encouragement.”
She added that the award will push them to discover more, improve further, and create an effective and efficient learning environment where children can thrive and become who they aspire to be in the future.
“Our curriculum is mixed. We run both the British and Nigerian curricula because the children can be anywhere in the world, and they should be able to mingle with others and measure up academically. With the Nigerian curriculum, everything is intact. We are inculcating the two curricula so that they can associate with others at any level. Our quality is second to none.”
She expressed optimism that in the next ten years, the school aims to have branches across the country.
The Project Manager of the Bayelsa Media Network Awards (BMNA), Mr. Blessing Mathew Ozegbe, commended Trillium Stars British International School for consistently maintaining a high level of discipline, integrity, and academic excellence in its activities.
According to Ozegbe, considering the care given to all children—especially those with special needs—the school is performing excellently.
He described the school’s academic system as outstanding, with hardworking teachers and staff. “BMNA is not coming to you because of money, but because of the level of integrity and the standard you have.
“What you have here is massive. All you need is more publicity to create greater awareness for your school to grow beyond this point. The teachers should also improve on themselves for greater achievements.”
He advised the school authority to continue maintaining its standards, noting that doing so would ensure even greater success. “I will advise other schools to emulate the discipline and hardworking system of Trillium Stars British International School in Kpansia, Yenagoa, the state capital,” he said.
