
Court rules on kingship dispute in Okpoama kingdom as Ex-Bayelsa Commissioner, Chief Egba-Dienagha emerges Acting Amamyanabo

A Bayelsa State High Court sitting in Brass/Nembe has ruled on the dispute kingship of the Okpoama kingdom in Brass local Government council of the state.
The Court upheld the election of Chief Nathan Egba-Dienagha as the duly elected as the Chairman of the Okpoama Kingdom Council of Chiefs and the lawful Acting Amayanabo of Okpoama Kingdom.
The Court, in the suit number BYHC/CV/4/2025 and presided over by Justice T. Y Abasi, also ruled that the continuous holding of office as Acting Amayanabo by Chief Paul Briggs-Suobagha was wrong and ordered him to vacate the office with immediate effect.
Justice T.Y Abasi also ordered the immediate reinstatement of the Okpoama Kingdom Secretary General, Mr Abite Edmund and the President of the Okpoama Kingdom Representative Council, Chief Ebimonyo Ikuromo-Ayonimite who were wrongfully removed from office.
According to the court, the Ibekobiriya held on the 3rd of August, 2024 which removed Edmund Abite acted ultra vires of the Okpoama kingdom Constitution, adding that the purported removal of Chief Ebimonyo Ikuromo-Ayonimite as the President of the Okpoama Kingdom Representative Council-OKRC was illegal, null and void.
Speaking to newsmen after the judgement, the Acting Amayanabo of Okpoama of Kingdom, High Chief Nathan Egba-Dienagha has called on the people of Okpoama Kingdom to remain calm and go about their normal businesses.
He said his vision of pursuing the sustainable development of Okpoama Kingdom remains sacrosanct and urged Chief Paul Briggs Suobagha and Bebara Rhodes Egein to hand over all kingdom properties and documents in their possession to the Kingdom Secretary, Mr Edmund Abite.
He noted that all those that were affected by the various executive orders issued by Chief Suobagha should return to their various positions since the court has declared the executive orders null and void.
High Chief Dienagha expressed gratitude to God Almighty and restated his commitment to work closely with the Government of Bayelsa State to further enhance the existing peace and development of Bayelsa State.
