Luke 5:5 And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.
INSIGHT | Daily Bible Verse for Today Wednesday 8 May 2024 – Luke 5:5
To lead a life of dominion, glory and impact, the effective use of the word of God as one’s compass is paramount. This, means finding direction or a way out of any distress point in life’s journey.
Our Bible verse for today, reveals the experience of Peter and the other disciples. The verse tells us about their all night struggle or labour without result until Jesus released the word to direct them on how to get result from their labour. Interestingly, they are fishermen before they met Jesus, what went wrong?
Peter receiving the word, effectively used it without doubt. David in Psalm 119 verse 105 says ‘Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.’ The word become a direction to get results and result Peter and his men got this time, cannot be compared to former times.
Dearly beloved, most times our life experiences are not different from the disciples of Jesus in the verse. If the disciples can have this experience, it is important for us to have the word of God as guide to direct at all times. In distress times, check with God’s word first.
Action Point: Take a moment, read the verse again, and memorise it, and mediate upon it. God bless you.
Prayer for Today:
Most merciful Father, we thank thee for the gift of your Word to guide, guard and lead us. Lord, we ask that you grant us the grace to follow and obey your Word daily in Jesus name, amen.
