Diri To Law School Council: Raise NDU Law Quota To 300
…Governor Pledges More Support For Law Faculty, Nigerian Law School Campus
By Jonah Fubara, YENAGOA – Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has challenged the Council of Legal Education to raise the admission quota for Law at the Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, to 300 students.
Diri made the demand on Tuesday when he received the Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Dr. Olugbemisola Titilayomi Odusote, and her team, who are in Bayelsa for an accreditation visit to the university’s Faculty of Law.
The governor said increasing the quota would expand access to legal education and create opportunities for more qualified students to pursue Law at the state-owned university.
He assured the delegation that his administration remained committed to upgrading facilities at the NDU Faculty of Law, stressing that quality infrastructure was critical to producing competent legal practitioners.
Diri also pledged continued support for the Yenagoa Campus of the Nigerian Law School at Agudama-Epie, as part of efforts to strengthen legal education and professional training in the state.
The governor’s meeting with the Nigerian Law School authorities comes as the accreditation team assesses the facilities and academic capacity of the NDU Faculty of Law.
He expressed confidence that the accreditation exercise would further enhance the standing of the university’s Law Faculty and contribute to the development of legal education in Bayelsa State.
