Enforcing the Ban on Indecent Dressing in Nigeria Writes Solomon Olali-Igabo
Indecent dressing is becoming a menace in society, Solomon Olali-Igabo, public commentator write Enforcing the Ban on Indecent Dressing in Nigeria.
[dropcap]I[/dropcap]ndecent dressing among young men and women has become a source of concern in society. The deliberate exposure of one’s body to the public especially young women intend to lure men or opposite sex is contrary to the acceptable norms and values.
Indecent dressing also known as immodest dressing was once uncommon in Africa, but today it is progressively becoming part of us even among undergraduate students in Nigeria.

Sagging is a form of dressing especially among prisoners in foreign countries where the top of the trousers or jeans is significantly below the waist, sometimes revealing much of the body is unacceptable.
Sadly, some of the sexually harassment or rape in the society was as result of indecent dressing or nudity displayed by both sexes and gender.
However, several factors could be the causes of the social malady which include poor parenting, public recognition of peers pressure, foreign influence and fading values, spiritual influence from agents of the devil on a mission to lure many people and the wrong use of the internet. In fact, the high rate of moral decadence in the large society can better be imagined.
It is instructive that parents should serve as role models: because children watch their parents and copy their ways of behavior. Females should discipline themselves and avoid commercializing prostitution.
Therefore, in order to eliminate indecent dressing, strict enforcement of dress codes should be introduced in colleges of education, polytechnics and universities as well as religious organizations.
The National Assembly should pass a bill against public nudity, a serious ban should be placed on all unscrupulous music videos and films, parents must be held responsible for the wrong behavior of their children and wards. Learn to control your impulses to the extent you will be able to fully control yourself at the sight of a scantily dressed woman. Youth should be encouraged to dress moderately or modestly.
Regrettably, young men are plating and dying their hairs, wearing of earrings, wearing of rings on the nose and eyes should be discouraged.
Recently, the Rivers State Government and the authority of the Rivers State University (RSU) has ban indecent dressing such as wearing of mini skirt, sagging dressing, dying of hair is a welcome development and in the right direction that should be emulated.
Demons are moving to and fro in order to seduce men and women into immorality.
Think about the life of Samson and Solomon among others. The most powerful man was ruined by a woman and the wisest and richest man in the bible became the most foolish man in his days due to lust of the flesh. For instance Delilah and Jezebel are agents of the devil.
Spiritually, there are seducing demons called incubus and succubus who lure men into sin and subsequent dead. Nudity is a bait demonic girls or women used to entangle their victims.
Every improper dressing between the opposite sexes is being influenced by demons and their agents. It is not normal to behold fellow men or young boy sagging or wearing ear ring on his ear or eyes and better skill young ladies being half naked displaying their nudes in public. It is a disgrace to manhood and dignity of womanhood and should be discouraged in Nigeria.
It is high time the National Assembly, Federal and other states Governments should emulate the Rivers State Government and enforce the ban on indecent dressing not only in universities but in religious organizations and other sectors in order to put an end to this social malady or menace.
