Democracy Day: ENWAF Calls For More Inclusiveness of Women in Governance
The CEO of Eunice Nnachi Women Advocacy Foundation, ENWAF, Lady Eunice Nnachi calls for more inclusiveness of women in governance.
Lady Nnachi who made the call on the sidelines of Democracy Day said women are needed at all levels, including the top, to change the dynamics, reshape the conversation, ensure that women’s voices are heard, heeded, and not overlooked or ignored.
According to her, the participation of women in Governance and leadership is a matter of right as enshrined in the National Gender Policy (NGP) which provides for 35% affirmative action in favour of the female gender.
She urged Women to rise above fear, apathy and cultural biases in their drive to maximize their leadership potentials, whether in national politics or in their various professional associations.
The ENWAF CEO pointed out that records have proven that women are not mentally inferior or less capable leaders than men, while urging women to strive for inclusion where ever they find themselves, noting that they can only succeed if they work together and not be an obstacle or hindrance to one another.
She emphasized that it is time to promote equity, and inclusive governance for sustainable development, adding that Nigeria as a country cannot afford to be left behind.
