FG Declares No Military Parade for 2025 Democracy Day on June 12
On Nigeria’s 26th Democracy Day billed for Thursday, June 12, 2025, there will not be the traditional military parade that usually features on such days.
The Federal Government, in a statement released by the Inter-Ministerial Committee, said rather, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will deliver a nationwide broadcast at 7 a.m.
Thereafter, he will participate in a special joint session of the National Assembly by 12 noon that will herald critical discourse on the state of the nation, with retrospection on Nigeria’s democratic evolution.
During the session, the president will also renew his call for unity and sustained reform efforts.
The day’s events will wrap-up with a Democracy Day public lecture at 4 p.m. holding at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja.
This event with the theme: “Consolidating on the Gains of Nigeria’s Democracy: Necessity of Enduring Reforms,” will have political leaders, government officials, civil society groups, and stakeholders attending.
