Fire Ravages Sokoto Mechanic Garage, Destroys Property Worth Millions
A devastating fire swept through the Buzaye Mechanic Garage in the Sokoto metropolis in the early hours of Tuesday, January 6, 2026, destroying workshops, vehicles and tools worth millions of naira.
The inferno, which reportedly started in the early morning, spread rapidly across the mechanic village, engulfing several sections before emergency responders arrived at the scene.
Although no life was lost and no injuries were recorded, the blaze left many artisans counting heavy losses as their means of livelihood were reduced to ashes.
Eyewitnesses said firefighters, supported by local residents, worked tirelessly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby residential areas.
Authorities have confirmed that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, adding that a full investigation has been launched to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
